  • A Prayer

'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and

To seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to

Those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We

Have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have

Exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness

And called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected

To discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have

Abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's

Possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with

Profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have

Ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it

Enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us

From every sin and Set us free. Amen!'

    Donut Grace

Ms. Z stepped out her apartment door, expecting my arrival.

I was at the donut shop. No I am not a police officer.

I was simply stopping to pick up a few dozen for our morning fellowship. This stop however threw my timing off a few minutes, and as Z stepped out she noticed a young man in the courtyard in seeming distress.

"What's the matter with you?" she asked the young man.

Seemingly embarrased, he responded "I'm hungry" She took him by the arm and led her into her apartment and fixed him a bologna sandwich (double), and a soda.

She watched as he walked out sandwich in hand, not finishing one bite before he took the next. It had been a long time since she had seen such apparent hunger.

But I was late, just late enough for God's grace to be shown to a hungry young man.

  • 30 Minute Worship

Matthew 26:40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

OK I know this was a statement to some tired disciples from an anguishing Christ. But I still think and hour is really not a long time for church.

Passed a church in Waco with a big banner advertising 30 minute worship. I'm not gona rant...I promise but

  • These are a few of my favorite things

Gotta cup of Pike Place in

One of my favorite mugs (Father's Day 1999 from Pappasitos- San Antonio-not the Longview version) on

the back porch looking at the lake with

a Princess watching the dog run (fully decked out in Auroras formal gown- the same one she wore while she accompanied me to Starbucks) and

a light drizzle creating gentle ripples on the lake hearing

crickets, bullfrogs an occasional bark and very little traffic noise while

the temperature stays in the 70's (yes it is August in Texas) making me wish it were fall and I were on my way to Disney World.

    A near perfect morning.
